Described as a “Multi-Touch TV for Android”, the forthcoming set-top box (STB) gives any HDTV direct access to Android's ecosystem of services such as the Google Play Store.
Priced at £99, the new Smart TV STB runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and comes with a “specially designed” TVTouch remote which allows for a tablet-lite user experience, as a person can “tap, swipe, zoom in, zoom out, select or type”.
“As a pioneer in multimedia Android devices, we wanted to create a bigger, better way to enjoy Android,” says Archos CEO, Henri Crohas.
“The ARCHOS TV connect provides users with a multi-touch, multi-media Smart TV experience powered by Android.”
TV Connect is set to hit the shelves in February with the fortunate CES attendees being given an early preview of the device.
