Temple Run 2 jumps to 20 million download mark

Imangi Studios has announced that Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 20 million times in just four days.

The mobile game developer further asserted that the Temple Run sequel has already accumulated 210 million gameplay sessions, or a cumulative 1,775 years of gameplay.

Temple Run 2 launched on 17 January, jumping to the number one spot in the App Store's free chart just eight hours into its existence. It still sits top of the pile at time of publication, and it is also third in the Top Grossing App table at present.

The latest Imangi Studio offering follows-up on its widely successful 2011 release Temple Run, which garnered over 170 million installs across iOS, Android and Amazon Marketplace. The sequel looks set to beat that record, as it has almost reached a third of its predecessor's multi-platform total in less than one week.

"The response from fans has been overwhelming," said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi.

"We are thrilled players want more of the Temple Run universe, and we hope to grow and expand the game over the coming months," he added.

Temple Run 2 is available for all iOS mobile devices, with an Android release set for later this week.
