£290 Acer Aspire V5 laptop: As thin and as light as an Ultrabook

Meet the Acer Aspire V5 laptop, possibly one of the better configured, entry-level slim-and-light laptops on the market.

Ebuyer is selling it on its eBay outlet for as little as £290 with free delivery and 290 Nectar points. You can get an additional one year warranty for as little as £40 plus a free upgrade to Windows 8 (Acer actually refunds the upgrade fee).

As for the laptop, it is powered by a Sandy Bridge-based dual-core Intel Pentium 967 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 2MB L3 cache, a TDP of 17W and an Intel HD Graphics subsystem.

Other features include a battery life of up to five hours, 4GB of RAM, 320GB onboard storage, a card reader, a DVD writer, three USB ports, HDMI, VGA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, webcam, a 15in display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, a weight of 2.3Kg and a thickness varying between 21mm and 23mm.

Note that this laptop comes with one-year International travellers’ warranty as well as a number of bundled applications, software that some might colloquially call bloatware.
