£89.49 3TB Buffalo DriveStation external hard drive

Ebuyer is selling a 3TB external desktop hard drive from Buffalo, the Drivestation HD-LB3.0TU2-UK, for £89.49 including free delivery and a two year warranty.

This is by far the cheapest 3TB hard disk drive we’ve seen on the market and it carries a per-gigabyte price of just under 3p per GB, almost as cheap as what you’d pay for a blank DVD.

The drive comes with a “sleek and attractive chassis” according to the product description and its rectangular shape means that it can be positioned either horizontally or vertically. The Drivestation comes with a Buffalo’s own set of applications which includes automatic backup facilities and is compatible with Apple’s Time Machine.

Interestingly, it also has a power management tool which intelligently puts the drive on standby when not in use. Note that it uses an external adaptor and consumes 12W. In comparison, a 4TB hard drive costs around £140 while Buffalo’s own 2TB hard drive is available for £70 at Ebuyer.
