Y-cam announces Cube HD smart home security solutions

Wireless technology specialist Y-cam Solutions has released its latest home security camera, the Y-Cam Cube.

The new Y-cam Cube range offers three different resolutions, with VGA and 720p models available immediately, and a Full HD (1080p) offering lined up to arrive this spring.

Representing the firm’s first indoor HD camera, the Y-cam Cube measures a compact 6.5cm in width and height, and features an automatic IR cut filter to improve colour representation.

“We have created a device that is smaller, smarter and sleeker than your average security camera, and will easily disappear into a user’s home or business – it’s perfectly unobtrusive and discreet,” said Simon Carr, commercial director at Y-cam.

Standard product features including a night vision mode powered by infrared LED lights, and motion detection technology – but potentially the Y-cam Cube’s biggest selling point is its smart features.

The camera boasts a built-in mobile stream and is Wi-Fi and PoE enabled, so users of Android and iOS devices can tap in to real-time video and audio remotely.

Users can also setup the Y-cam Cube to send automatic email alerts when activity has been detected.

The surveillance gadget can house up to 64GB of data via its microSD card slot – potentially 90 hours of video based on the H.264 compression standard.

“There’s no question that the market is calling for high quality HD cameras. In keeping with our ethos on high quality yet affordable products, we have used a balanced package of lens, sensor and chipset to offer VGA, 720p and 1080p options, perfect for those seeking the utmost quality, integration, design and reliability,” Mr Carr added.

The Cube HD 720 will retail for £199.99, while the HD 1080 model can be pre-ordered for £249.99. The entry-level VGA camera features an SRP of £149.99, with all products available direct from the Y-cam store, or via leading online retailer Amazon. Other DIY and security outlets are expected to add the Y-cam Cube in due course.

However, for a limited time only, the devices are discounted by 10 per cent – making the VGA Cube £125, and its 720p and 1080p brethren £166.66 and £208.33, respectively. The introductory offer ends at midnight tonight (1 February, 2013), so get in fast to secure your home and save money.
