£430 Asus S200E Vivobook laptop: A very capable thin and light laptop

If you are looking for an affordable and powerful yet ultra-compact laptop, then check out the Asus S200E-CT216H Vivobook which is on sale at PC World for a mere £430.

The notebook has an 11.6in display that is both touchscreen and sports a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, the same as most 15.6in laptops on the market, resulting in a much higher pixel density.

The S200E runs on an Intel Core i3-2365M processor, a dual-core model with 3MB cache, a clock speed of 1.4GHz and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 video solution.

Other specifications include 4GB of RAM, a massive 500GB hard disk drive, three USB ports, Windows 8, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Di compatibility, Wi-Fi, VGA, Sonicmaster audio technology, HD webcam and island style keyboard.

The laptop also features a 2-cell battery that can power the laptop for up to five hours and Asus’s own Instant-on technology that allows the S200E to resume from stand-by in just two seconds.

Note that there’s no optical drive, which explains why the laptop is so light (1.4Kg) and relatively thin (21mm). Asus has also bundled 32GB of web-based storage (from Asus WebStorage) for three years.
