Asus says that the touchscreen, Windows 8 based Vivobook device is one of its most popular laptops and it is very easy to see why. The Vivobook S200E is on sale at Currys for a mere £349, that’s £50 less than the price it was preordered at towards the end of October.
There are several versions of this laptop and this one is the cheapest one running on a dual-core Pentium P987 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 3MB cache memory and turbo boosting to 3GHz. It does come with 4GB of RAM and a massive 500GB hard disk drive.
Other features include a 11.6in 1,366 x 768 pixels touchscreen display, Windows 8, three USB ports (including a USB 3.0 one), VGA and HDMI ports, a HD webcam, instant-on technology and up to five hours battery life thanks to a 38Whr, 2-cell battery.
Asus has also thrown in a Sonicmaster audio system as well as an island-style illuminated keyboard and trimmed its thickness to 21mm and its weight to 1.3Kg. Note that it does also have an Ethernet port and an Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU.
We have yet to find a Windows 8 device that boosts as many features for such a low price.
