£489 Acer Aspire S3 laptop: One of the cheapest Ultrabooks on the market

British supermarket Asda, out of every possible retailer, is selling the Acer Aspire S3-391 laptop for a mere £489. You need to enter the code ace10 at checkout to get a £10 discount off its retail price.

The product is not labelled as an Ultrabook in the description at any point and yet, it is an Ultrabook as far as we can see (or at least it fits the description).

It is thin, at around 13mm thick and light, weighing under 1.4Kg. it uses an aluminium/magnesium allow for its chassis. It has a battery life of up to four hours, boosts the ability to wake up from sleep in less than two seconds and can stay in “deep sleep” mode for 50 days.

The S3-391 runs on an Intel Core i3-3217U processor. It has two cores, is clocked at 1.8GHz and is based on the Ivy Bridge architecture (which means that it comes with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU as well).

Other features include Bluetooth 4.0, a 500GB hard drive (with a 20GB SSD), a 3-cell Lithium Ion battery, 4GB of RAM, a card reader, a 13.3in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, a HD webcam, three USB ports, Windows 8 and a notable lack of optical drive. Check out our review of the Acer Aspire S3.
