When the Galaxy S3 was introduced last year, there were no real threat from Sony although both the LG Optimus 4X HD and the HTC One X had already been launched. This time around, the Galaxy S4 will launch after the Xperia Z and will also take on the HTC One.
Mobiles.co.uk, a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, is selling the Sony Xperia Z for as little as £27 per month on a two year contract with an initial upfront fee of £20. That’s an effective monthly cost of just under £28 and a total cost of ownership of £668, not bad for a phone that costs £499 SIM Free.
The offer is available on O2’s On and On and includes unlimited texts, unlimited minutes and 1GB of data. Also in the bundle is O2’s Priority Moments plus Wi-Fi on O2 and BT Openzone.
The Xperia Z’s main feature is the fact that it is both waterproof and dustproof. Other key selling points include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, the 600, which is clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, 11-hours talk time, a 5in 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display, 16GB onboard storage and a microSD card slot.
