Samsung Galaxy S4 goes on preorder for £530 SIM Free

Mobilephonesdirect has put the unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 on preoder for £529.99. The smartphone, the retailer said, will be delivered in about six weeks.

The S4, which takes over the popular S3, as the flagship handset from the Korean manufacturer, was unveiled on Thursday 14 March during an event held in New York.

The smartphone runs on an eight-core Exynos 5410 SoC with four Cortex-A7 and four Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and 1.2GHz respectively. Other features include 2GB of RAM, a 5in 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display, 4G compatibility, NFC, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 13-megapixel camera, a 2,600mAh battery, IR, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB port.

The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Google’s mobile platform. At 130g and measuring only 7.9mm, it is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, that’s partly due to the fact that Samsung is sticking to a chassis made mostly of plastic.

Where Samsung hopes to surpass its rivals is when it comes to added features like S Voice, Air view, S Translator, Eye-tracking smart scrolling etc.
