Asus Padfone 2 smartphone tablet hybrid: Now available from £33 per month

The Asus Padfone 2, which was launched last year in Taiwan, is now available in the UK, via Carphone Warehouse, on pay monthly contracts.

For as little as £33 per month on Vodafone, you get the smartphone with its tablet docking station. That’s a total cost of ownership of £792 which compares well with the cost of the bundle SIM Free; £599.

The Padfone 2 smartphone is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960a SoC clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM, 32 GB onboard storage, a 4.7in 1,280 x 720 pixel Super IPS+ display, HD video recording, a 13-megapixel camera and up to 16 hours talk time thanks to the bundled 2,140mAh battery.

Slide in the phone into the 10.1in Padfone station and you get a few more connectors as well as a talk time of up to 36 hours.

Other features include 50GB of Asus WebStorage free for two years, Corning Gorilla glass, SonicMaster audio technology, a combined weight of 649g and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The plan includes 600 minutes, unlimited texts, 500MB data and 2GB of BT Openzone Wi-Fi. You can read our coverage of the Asus Padfone 2 here and check out our article on the launch of the Asus Padfone Infinity at MWC.
