£100 JoyTAB 9.7 tablet: Like a first generation Apple iPad, only more affordable

What can £100 buy you in 2013 when it comes to tablets? Well, according to what JoyTAB has on offer, a lot actually. Home and Garden Limited sells the JoyTAB IPS 9.7in tablet for a penny under £100 with free delivery and 100 Nectar points.

This device shares many features with the first generation Apple iPad and offers a number of improvement as well, all for less than half the price of the current iPad Mini.

It runs on a single-core Cortex-A8 SoC clocked at 1GHz (the Rockchiip RK2918) with 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 9.7in 1,024 x 768 pixel IPS display (with a 4:3 aspect ratio), a VGA front facing camera and a 2-megapixel rear one, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a microSD card slot, a mini USB port, Wi-Fi, two speakers, a mini HDMI plug and up to five hours battery life.

You should be able to beef up the onboard storage by plugging in a 32GB microSD card for a tenner. Externally, the JoyTAB IPS tablet – which garnered a What Laptop Editors’ choice trophy – sports an attractive design. You can check our review of the original Apple iPad tablet here.
