Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet goes on sale for £339

The Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet has gone on sale exclusively at Samsung’s Experience store at Westfield Stratford with other outlets to follow soon.

The device, which was announced at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, costs £330 and will go head to head against Apple’s iPad Mini tablet which retails for as little as £239.

The tablet will come pre-loaded with content and services which Samsung says, are worth £60; these include Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode II, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, two years’ worth of Dropbox storage, two months’ trial to the Times and the Sunday Times, a £20 voucher to spend nine S Pen games, one month free access to Music Hub, one free alum and AVG AntiVirus Pro).

A Samsung employee told us that only the Wi-Fi version (in white) is available and the 3G version has yet to receive a release date.

The device is a smaller version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 which costs £349 and has a slower processor. There’s the same quad-core Exynos 4412 SoC clocked at 1.6GHz, with 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, the now famous S Pen, an 8in 1,280 x 800 pixel display, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel one, a 4,600mAh battery and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
