You can now get the Sony Xperia SP smartphone on preorder from as little as £25 per month on a two-year contract from Phones4U, on Vodafone with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB data. The total cost of ownership of the package is £600, which is significantly more than the price of the device SIM Free, £340, as sold by Expansys.
The smartphone is also available on EE/Orange/T-Mobile where it is rather affordable. The EE 4G packages for example start from £31 with unlimited minutes and texts and 500MB data. Add another £10 for 1GB monthly allowance, £15 for 3GB, £20 for 5GB and £25 for 8GB.
Phones4U says that the phone will be available for delivery from 3 May and will give a free stereo Bluetooth headset to the first 200 pre-orders with three months free Wi-Fi doled out to everyone. As for the phone itself, it runs on a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960Pro SoC clocked at 1.7GHz.
Other features include 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot a 4.6in 1,280 x 720 pixel display with Mobile Bravia Engine 2 and Corning Gorilla Glass 2, NFC, 4G, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, an 8-megapixel camera and a 2,300mAh battery.
