Nokia to unveil rival to Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone?

Nokia is said to be planning the launch of a big-size smartphone, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, if a report from respected news outlet Financial Times is to be believed.

The biggest smartphone at the time of writing from Nokia is the Lumia 920, a model based on Windows Phone 8 which was released back in September last year in New York (you can check the review of that handset here).

Anonymous sources have told the NY times that the device will have more “advanced specifications” than the Galaxy Note 2 but stopped short of providing with more details.

The Lumia 920 has a display size of 4.5in while, technically, the biggest smartphone in the Android ecosystem, is the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (although we would either consider the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 or the Asus Fonepad to be the biggest real smartphones on the market).

The shares of the company fell heavily yesterday after disappointing first quarter results which saw a fall in the number of handsets shipped.

Rumours of Nokia working on tablets have emerged several times in the past with a Windows RT concept model appearing as early as late December 2011 although the company denied such an interest a year ago.
