Online retailer Very is giving away a smartphone with £60 worth of credit for a mere £49. This offer, which regularly features on Techdealspro, is part of Orange’s Ready Deals which spreads out the £60 over six months (i.e. £10 a month) thereby preventing users from spending all the £60 worth of credit in one go and reselling the smartphone.
The handset in question is the Orange Stockholm, an entry level touchscreen Android-based device which is built by Huawei (The Ascend Y100 was launched nearly two years ago). It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo but can be upgraded to Gingerbread. Very allows you to spread the cost of the purchase over three months as well.
The phone’s features include a single-core Qualcomm MSM7225 SoC clocked at 800MHz, 256MB of RAM, 2GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 2.8in 320 x 240 pixel display, a 3.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and an FM Radio.
Don’t expect much from the smartphone though because of this hardware specification.
Other than using it as an MP3 player, to play Youtube videos and other bog-standard, you will be hard pressed to get it to perform like a mainstream smartphone.
