You can already preorder the brand new Microsoft Xbox One gaming console, the follow up to the Xbox 360 at popular British retailer Zavvi for a whopping £399.99. Which is more than thrice what you'd pay for the entry level Xbox 360.
Zavvi says that if it reduces the price between now and the release date, it will charge the lower price as part of its lowest price guaranteed. Buying it from Zavvi also gives customers double points on all Xbox products (which can be redeemed against gifts) as well as automatic entry to exclusive competitions.
Also in the debut line ups are five games including FIFA 14, NBA Live 14, Madden NFL 14, UFC 14 and Call of Duty – Ghosts, all of which carry a preorder price of £49.99. The Xbox One was announced yesterday at an event in Redmond, Washington and saw the launch of a device that is closer, as far as looks are concerned, to the industrial design of a standard set top box.
Inside though, things are different. The Xbox One, like the Sony Playstation 4 will be based on an AMD 8-core processor (and will therefore be based on the x86 architecture). It will have 8GB of RAM, a massive 500GB hard disk drive, a Blu-ray reader, GbE, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 and a bundled Kinect motion controller.
