£200 laptop showdown: Toshiba C660 vs. Toshiba C850

Argos sells two Toshiba Satellite models, the C660 and the C850 for £200 with a £3.95 delivery charge but also 200 Nectar points. The C850 is the better model but if ever you miss out on it, the C660 is a capable replacement. Both models are refurbished and come with 12 months warranty from Toshiba.

They also share amount of system memory and storage space (4GB and 500GB), the same display size and resolution (a 15.6in TruBrite display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution), the same optical drive and graphics subsystem. Other similarities include Wi-Fi, a card reader and an Ethernet port.

The C850 is powered by an Intel Celeron B830 processor, one which comes with two cores clocked at 1.6GHz (the C660 has a B815 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz), a 1-megapixel webcam (compared to a 0.3-megapixel unit on the C660), an extra USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port and Windows 8 (rather than Windows 7.

It is also thinner (33.5 vs. 35.6mm) and lighter (2.1Kg vs. 2.54Kg) than the C660. The latter though boosts a better battery life at 6 hours, up to 50 per cent more than the C850.
