A large number of Toshiba's enterprise hard drives have received qualification from Supermicro Computer for their high performance and energy-saving capabilities.
Among those qualified are the MG Series of 3.5in HDDs with SATA or SAS, which deliver capacities up to 4TB. The models included are the MG03ACA, MG03ACAY, MG03SCA, MG03SCP, MG03ACA400, MG3ACA400Y, MG03SCA400 and the MG03SCP400. This range was particularly touted for its reduced power consumption.
Supermicro also qualified the AL13SE enterprise-class 2.5in HDD Series with 6Gb/s SAS interface. These drives comes in capacities from 300GB to 900GB, which is a smaller volume than the MG Series, but they promise an operating reliability rating of a whopping 2,000,000 power-on hours. This makes them suitable for mission-critical usage.
The qualification means the Toshiba drives will now be available for use as part of Supermicro's enterprise server and storage systems, giving businesses more choice in how they want to deploy essential data storage infrastructure.
“As corporations increasingly demand faster computing solutions and access to data, enterprises need to maximize both storage performance and efficiency while keeping cost-effectiveness in mind,” said Joel Hagberg, vice president of marketing at the Storage Products Business Unit of Toshiba.
“Toshiba and Supermicro have partnered to deliver advanced storage solutions to enterprise customers in an effort to help satisfy the increasing demand for high-performing and efficient enterprise storage.”
