Deal: Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone down to £288

Forget about the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, the Galaxy Ace 3 and other variants in the Samsung Galaxy family. Carphone Warehouse is currently selling the original Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone for a mere £288 SIM Free. A fantastic price for a smartphone that's just over a year old and is still a very capable handset, especially when compared to the slew of relatively disappointing variants that we've seen lately.

At just under £290, it is around £70 than the cheapest quad-core model, the LG Optimus 4X HD but not more expensive than the LG Nexus 4, its only real threat at that price range. It runs on a quad-core Samsung Exynos 4412 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz with 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 4.8in Super AMOLED HD display with a 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution, a rear 8-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a number of Samsung "exclusive" features.

These include Smart Stay eye recognition, pop-up play, S-voice voice recognition, Direct call and Smart Alert, all of which highlights the smarpthone's positioning as a social device. You can read our review of the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone here.
