The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite has gone on sale in the UK with the company promising that the device’s Ativ Book 9 Plus sibling will be in stores by the end of August.
The Ativ Book 9 Lite Windows 8 Ultrabook can be bought in the firm’s Samsung shop at Westfield Stratford, London, as well as Currys, PC World, and John Lewis.
Samsung’s newest lightweight Ultrabook has a 13.3in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution and runs on an AMD A6-4400M APU that has been clocked at 1.6GHz with an AMD Radeon HD 7250G GPU, 4GB RAM and a 128GB SSD.
The laptop also sports a 1.3-megapixel HD webcam, a card slot, two USB ports, an HDMI socket, nine hours battery life, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and weighs in at just 1.44kg.
Samsung claim the device has a quick boot speed of eight seconds and the Ativ Book 9 Lite will wake up from Sleep mode in just two seconds. Anyone with a Galaxy smartphone will be pleased that it comes with SideSync, which means your device can cooperate flawlessly with the Ultrabook.
The more powerful Ativ Book 9 Plus will be available come the end of August and is even thinner than its little brother. The screen is the same 13.3in size but it packs an 3,200 x 1,800 pixel resolution in addition to the quad-core Intel Core i5 processor and is lighter at just 1.39kg. It has 8GB of RAM as well as a 256GB SSD and will take advantage of the latest version of Microsoft Windows 8.
It will last for 12 hours as opposed to the nine of the Lite with the extra power likely to set customers back a hefty £1,200 when it does eventually go on sale later on this month.
