Earlier today, I swung by Samsung’s massive booth to check out some of the company’s products. As expected, this being the conglomerate that we all know, there’s a bewildering array of products to look at however. One particularly caught my eye and rekindle my interest in printers.

Samsung engineers have been working hard on a few revolutionary printer designs, printers that look or behave like no other printers. We’ve already covered the Origami one which is made out of cardboard model, the screw-free Clip and the colourful, customisable Mate and they were on display.

Next to these were the newly announced docking system speakers that double as a printer. One is ovoid, one is a mobile model, the other one has a retro radio design while a “One & One” model allows you to print in two colours.

None of these printers are on sale but I was genuinely impressed by the level of ingenuity in designing and manufacturing these devices. New form factors mean new mindsets as well and the fact that Samsung came up with new designs for the toner cartridges (they are now cylindrical) shows that company is bold enough to challenge existing status quo.

Samsung also had massive 98in UHD displays both for a commercial environment and for a home setting with different designs. The home version comes with a stand that doubles as a speaker solution and is likely to carry a suggested retail price closed to six figures.

Also on display was an impressive 31.5in UHD display, possibly the UHD screen with smallest diagonal (which translates into a high pixel density). Both Sharp and Dell have 32in model whereas this one goes just a bit further. No pricing or availability for any of the aforementioned models.

Last but certainly not least was the prototype of a UHD OLED screen. A masterpiece in technology that combines two of the most exciting development in display in recent times. The picture quality is astounding and the photos do not to justice to what human eyes will see. Although it is not the final ready-to-ship model, it shows that Samsung is working hard to get 4K OLED products to market as soon as possible.
