Sophos has announced immediate iOS 7 support for its Sophos Mobile Control [SMC] system that will allow users to enjoy the benefits of Apple’s new mobile OS.
SMC can be used with iOS 7 as soon as it arrives on a device and introduces a variety of features that take advantage of the new iOS 7 business capabilities.
“We think iOS7 is a huge step forward in enabling personal devices to be used securely at work, and are delighted to be extending the benefits to our partners and customers,” said John Shaw, VP for end user security products at Sophos.
SMC allows employees of small and medium sized businesses to work securely on mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad with the company involved able to easily keep track of its employees.
Version 3.6 of SMC gives further corporate data protection in addition to other enhancements including separation of company and personal data, per app VPN, a new volume purchasing program [VPP] and remote configuration of apps.
“Mobile devices in the workplace are the rule, not the exception. Sophos Mobile Control provides simple to deploy mobile device management and security that will keep employees happy and productive, minimize the workload for IT, and give managers confidence that the company’s data is protected,” Shaw added.
iOS 7 is expected to be released alongside Apple’s two new iPhones at launch events in both California and Beijing today and tomorrow. Gartner research states the new OS has more enterprise improvements than any Apple iOS release since iOS 4 and SMC 3.6 is well placed to take advantage of a number.
SMC also allows a company to control employee device use on Google Android OS and Windows phones or tablets.
