Deal: £89 10in dual-core Android tablet

If you never heard of APAD or EPAD, this is usually the name given to a standard Apple iPad tablet clone. Retailer Universal Gadgets sells one on eBay for a little less than £89 with 88 Nectar points and free delivery. The seller has nearly 1.5 million positive feedbacks and is therefore not one likely to disappear overnight.

The tablet apparently runs on a Rockchip 2928 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. This is likely to be untrue and we believe that it is instead a Rockchip 3066 that powers this tablet. The fact that it has a high clock speed and is a dual-core model leaves us to believe so.

Other features include Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 10in 1,024 x 768 pixel display (more likely to be 9.7in like the iPad), a 5,000mAh battery, Wi-Fi, a microSD card slot, a VGA front facing camera and a rather thick bezel.

Altogether an excellent alternative to the slightly more expensive Arnova 10G4 tablet and a great purchase as a secondary or tertiary media player.
