Versarien has been crowned HP Smart Business of the Year at an awards ceremony organised by the technology giant.
The HP Smart Business Awards, now into its second year, recognises the UK’s best small and medium sized enterprises [SME] with the gongs handed out for everything from innovation and social media to skills creation and business growth.
“On behalf of HP, I would like to congratulate our winners and shortlisted companies. We’ve been overwhelmed by the volume of entries this year and the shortlist is a testament to the incredible energy and dynamism within the UK’s SME community,” said Susan Bowen, Chief of Staff UK & Ireland at HP.
The overall winner, Versarien, is based in Gloucestershire and employs technology and patented manufacturing processes to develop engineering solutions across a wide range of industries.
There were plenty of other awards handed out on the night with the Business Growth award going to Postcode Anywhere and its cloud-based address management services.
The award for Social Media went to Gandys for its impressive use of social media channels with the Innovation prize taken home by mobile digital advertising specialist Eyetease Media.
My Time took home the Community award for its work providing counselling and support services in the West Midlands and the London Jewellery School was awarded the Skills Creation award for its work educating people in the art of jewellery creation.
The Next Generation award, which recognises business owners aged 25 and below, was given to Industry Education in Music [IEM] for the work it does in helping create teaching programs for the curriculum by linking schools and the music industry.
HP hosted the ceremony at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London with the winner in each category receiving the choice of an HP product to match business needs as well as business mentoring skills contributed by the pool of sponsors.
