The best UK tech deals of Christmas 2013: Can you still nab a bargain?

This event has now ended and some deals may no longer be valid.

Have you munched your first mince pie? Supped the inaugural mulled wine? Cast a nefarious eye towards the mistletoe? Yes, it's that time of the year again, boys and girls - Christmas 2013 is now in full flow, as you no doubt can tell by the slightly pale complexion sported by your colleagues many a morning.

Unfortunately, you may also be able to detect the advent of the festive season in another way – the rapid dwindling of your bank balance. All of the boozy nights and Amazon splurges quickly add up these days, whether you're shopping for friends and family, find yourself sucked into the traditional secret Santa round, or are looking to brown nose your bosses.

But fear not, dear reader: Christmas is also a ripe time for deal hunting. With a raft of technology trade shows set to herald the arrival of the New Year, many manufacturers are keen to offload their soon-to-be outdated kit, so competitive pricing abounds for the seasoned bargain sniffer.

As ever, ITProPortal is here to help. In the final countdown to Christmas 2013, we'll be hosting the best tech deals available in the UK right here to aid you in your quest for a snazzy last minute gift.

While we can't guarantee that we'll find the iPad Air available for £200, we can promise that you'll stand a much better chance of staying in the black this year if you check back regularly, as we'll be updating this page multiple times a day with all the latest and greatest seasonal tech deals.

Happy hunting, and if you find a great bargain that we seem to have missed, be sure to let us know via the comment section below, or give us a friendly nudge on Twitter.

Currys has £50 off the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13, a pretty gorgeous hybrid, touchscreen ultrabook that comes with Intel Core i5 architecture and Windows 8. Sure, it's still £700 and there's plenty cheaper out there, but sometimes it's worth paying that little extra

A right cracker here - Tesco has the Motorola Moto G for just £99 where other retailers are still selling it for around £150. It's a very capable handset that's pretty much unequaled in its price segment, and you can learn more by checking out our review of the Motorola Moto G.

Hit up Dialaphone now to buy the gold Apple iPhone 5S for the low TCO of £792 over two years. The device itself comes at no upfront cost, but you'll be locked in for two years and the 500MB data allowance isn't great. Still, overall this is a very affordable way to get your hands on a luxury item.

  • 14:23

We've just unearthed a really decent deal for one of this season's most coveted items - the gold Apple iPhone 5S.

Not long ago, we mentioned that you can nab a Galaxy S3 for around £180 second hand, but if it's a new device you're after, then this Asda deal gets you the Samsung Galaxy S3 brand new for £260 which isn't too shabby, either

  • 12:24

One for the traditionalists here: the Acer Veriton VE430 desktop tower is 13 per cent off, featuring Intel Core i3 architecture supported by 4GB of RAm and packing a 500GB hard drive. The system will come with Windows 8, an optical drive, and a one-year warranty.

This is a super cheap deal for a touchscreen Windows 8 laptop - nab the Asus X102BA with a 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM for a mere £285 now via Laptops Direct, more than £100 less than its RRP.

  • 10:08

Tablets galore are going at bin end prices this Christmas, and the latest steal we've spotted is this deal for the Dell XPS 10, reduced by £220. That will get you the Windows RT-running slate itself (you'll have to purchase the keyboard dock separately) but it does come bundled with Office Home and Student 2013 software, which is nothing to sniff at.

An absolute cracker for you to kick off Thursday: Currys currently has a 128GB Apple iPad with Retina (fourth-generation) price slashed to £429 if you buy online. Sure, it's still at the premium end of the spectrum at a time when budget tablets are all the rage, but to put it into context it's still selling for £499 in-store and originally retailed for an eye-watering £739!

I'll take a stab in the dark here and say that since you're reading this, chances are you're a geek. Which means you'll be interested in our 5 best Christmas presents for geeks roundup, right? Go on, no one's looking....

  • 15:41

Everyone loves a good laptop, especially when it's got £100 knocked off the price tag. Currys are selling the ACER V5-552 15.6" laptop for £399.99 reduced from £499.99.

  • 14:55

Going off on a bit of a tangent here, but what's better than getting a cracking deal this Christmas? Getting something for free, of course. No, we're not advocating you take a five finger discount down at the local Apple store - that would be illegal after all, like P2P file-sharing. However, we do have a pretty cool competition to let you in on, set up by the FTTH Council Europe to raise awareness about the plague that is rubbish Internet access. The long and short is you can win a free Apple iPad Air or free Sony PlayStation 4, and the only other clue we'll drop is that there are selfies involved. What are you waiting for? Follow that link and get pouting, people!

A Logik TV bundle that won't break the bank, discounted GoDaddy domain names and £40 off a SanDisk Cruzer Blade make up our daily deals roundup for today.

  • 12:11

  • 12:10

Ok so it's not as glitzy as a gold plated iPhone 5S or a shiny new tablet, but a pair of the Tritton 720+ 7.1 surround sound headphones would go down a storm with anyone who needs to regularly work from home, or an avid online gamer. Now available for under £100 at Currys, they're also a bargain too.

  • 11:28

A real cracker this: Google's first-generation (2012) Nexus 7 is 50% off on eBay right now, meaning you can get your hands on it for a mere £100. Yes there are plenty of cheaper tablets out there, and a number of more powerful ones (not least the 2013 Nexus 7...) but this is still a great little device, featuring a 7in HD display and quad-core Tegra 3 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, not to mention stock Android, so it's immediately upgradeable to version 4.4 KitKat. Even though its a year old, it's still head and shoulders above the likes of the Hudl - and if you take advantage of this deal, it won't even cost that much more

  • 11:23

  • 10:18

If it's a more vintage feel you're after this Christmas, 2012's standout smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S3, is available for around £180 in "Like New" or "Very Good' condition via multiple sellers on the Amazon Marketplace. Remember to always check a seller's rating and feedback before purchasing.

  • 10:14

  • 09:55

But that's not to say the S4 isn't a very capable device, and now you can buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 for just £330 via Amazon. It's a factory refurbished model so should be good as new, but if you're a bit precious about the whole previously owned deal, Amazon also has a brand new Galaxy S4 for £415 - a massive savings on its original RRP of more than £600 and a healthy whack down from its current going rate of around £500.

  • 09:51

Was the Samsung Galaxy S4 the best smartphone of 2014? In a word, no - that honour goes to either the HTC One or Apple iPhone 5S if you ask me, with strong shouts for both the Google Nexus 5 and Motorola Moto G if you factor in value for money.

  • 09:35

After a new monitor this Christmas? You could worse than to check out this deal for the AOC i2369Vm (pictured, below), which sees Currys offering the 23in Full HD monitor for under £130 including free shipping. But just how low can Full HD displays go these days? Even lower, apparently, as the BenQ GL2450 Full HD 24in monitor is just £110 via Amazon right now.

  • 12:10

  • 11:52

Not strictly a deal as such, but if it's pure pennies you're looking to pinch this Christmas, then the £30 Aakash UbiSlate 7Ci manufactured by DataWind is worth a look. Thought to be the world's cheapest tablet, it only just landed in the UK, undercutting other super-budget slates like the Tesco Hudl and Aldi's recently launched Medion Lifetab.
