We recently reviewed three ATX motherboards with Socket FM2+ processor socket that are compatible with AMD's latest generation of A series processors called Kaveri. ASRock and Gigabyte also sent us Mini ITX boards. In this review we will take a close look at the ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ and the Gigabyte F2A88XN WiFi.
Using an AMD A series processor on an ITX board is a good combination. The AMD processors have outstanding integrated GPUs and are affordable. The 3D performance is better than what Intel offers and the video features are very comprehensive.
The AMD A6, A8 and A10 processors are therefore an ideal foundation for an HTPC, and with a compact Mini ITX board you can fit everything into a small and stylish enclosure. The options in that area are also steadily increasing.
Like the other Socket FM2+ ATX boards we tested, these two use the AMD A88X chipset, a new version of the A85X that supports Kaveri. The rest of the specs are the same and include 8x Serial ATA 600, RAID 0/1/5, 4x USB 3.0, 10x USB 2.0 and support for High Definition Audio. You can read the rest of this preview on hardware.info.
