Kindle for Samsung lands on Android 4.0 devices

Amazon is bringing a custom version of its Kindle app to Samsung for the first time with a number of special deals being launched specifically for Samsung device owners.

Kindle for Samsung will debut this month on the newly released Galaxy S5 smartphone before being rolled out to existing Samsung Galaxy smartphone and tablets that run Android 4.0 or above.

“We’re delighted to be able to deepen our long-standing relationship with Amazon and offer Kindle for Samsung as the perfect app for reading on a smart device. With this service we demonstrate our commitment to creating and broadening key content partnerships that deliver rich and personalised experiences for our customers,” said Lee Epting, Vice President, Samsung’s Media Solution Center Europe.

Samsung Book Deals will come as part of the package and offers Samsung device owners the chance to own 12 free eBooks a year from a selection of four different titles every month and comes from a wide selection of titles on the service.

It also includes various other features that have become synonymous with the service including Whispersync, Time to Read, and Worry-Free Archive, as well as the 500,000 titles that are exclusive to Amazon’s Kindle store.

“We’re thrilled that Samsung has chosen Kindle as their eBook provider. With Kindle for Samsung, people around the world will have instant access to the best digital bookstore and reading experience,” Jorrit Van der Meulen, Vice President, EU Kindle, added.

Kindle for Samsung is available right away for customers in 90 countries and can be downloaded via the Samsung apps store.
