It seems that Radio Free Europe has upset a group of hackers, as reports are coming in of a series of distributed denial of service attacks on the station's various Web sites on t'Internet.

According to Paul Ferguson, an advanced threat researcher with Trend Micro, a series of DDOS attacks over the last week has paralysed around eight Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Web sites, mainly in Eastern Europe.

News.com says that, at one point the Web sites were getting up to 50,000 hits per second from other machines.

Trend Micro says the attacks are almost certainly the result of politically-motivated hackers, which is a bit sad, as RFE's programming is about as non-political as you can get...
