Humax To Launch Freesat HD DVR Box In November

Humax, together with Topfield, is one of the most recognised PVR manufacturers in the market and the fact that it is set to release its first Freesat HD PVR next month means good news for the free satellite service.

The Foxsat-HD will combine two digital tuners - that can record two Freesat channels simultaneously - and a huge 320GB hard disk drive - enough for 80 hours of HD recording - in a stunningly beautiful box while consuming less than 1w in standby mode.

It has the ability of the being able to simultaneously playing transmissions over HDMI, YPbPr or Scart and also offers upscaling that improves standard definition content on a HD LCD TV.

In addition, you will be able to connect your computer to the Foxsat-HD via the onboard Ethernet port and the box can automatically be upgraded via satellite.

Like most existing Humax PVRs, you will be able to record series, do live pause and rewinding, split recording and schedule tracking.

Already 100,000 HD boxes have been sold already in the past five months.

The device will be on sale as from next month at around GBP 299 (excluding the dish and installation) and will almost certainly add legions of new Freesat HD users.
