Google Earth Now Compatible With Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch
Google is adopting Microsoft's motto of "embracing and extending" after Google Earth was finally launched on Apple iPhone (and iPod touch) through the Apple's App store.
Available in 18 languages and currently in version 1.0.0, Google Earth on iPhone is still pretty much work in progress but manages to replicate almost all the goodies on the desktop version (including 3D terrains but excluding road markings), while being able to connect both on 3G and WiFi connections.
Google Earth (desktop version) has been downloaded more than 400 million since its launch back in 2005 and also offers more than eight million Panoramio photos which provide geo-location data for each photos and can be accessed straight from the iPhone.
iPhone users from Brazil and Argentina however have complained that they could not access the Google Earth App. On the plus side, it looks as if Google Street View will soon be offered on the iPhone.
It would be quite interesting to see what Google application, Apple will be porting next on the iPhone. Google has already released an iPhone application that integrates its multiple services into a single interface and also offers Youtube on iPhone.
