  • Asus Touts EEE PC S101 Laptop as Macbook Air Slayer

08 October, 2008, by Desire Athow

In its attempt to take on Apple’s Macbook Air, Asus has come up with a super-slim and light netbook in the guise of new Asus Eee PC S101.

Sporting with 10.2-inch wide screen, the new device includes Intel Atom Processor, an in-built 4-in-1 card reader, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, RJ-45 Ethernet socket, three USB ports and an improved battery that offers backup for five hours.

In addition, the first S101 netbook comes loaded with Windows XP Home version with a basic 1GB memory and 16GB upgradeable SSD, and the company is expected to offer two Linux versions, with 32GB or 64GB SSD, in a couple of weeks.

Asus claimed the new S101 netbook as “a successful melding of fashion and functionality” and with its sleek dimensions and light weight, the device proves to be a cheaper alternative for Macbook Air.

The new gadget will be available in a variety of colours including, champagne, graphite and brown and is expected to hit the floor in early November.
