Mobile phones are now officially as cheap as fish and chips as high street giant announced that it will be selling the Samsung SGH-B130 handset for £4.95 until this Christmas.
The candybar phone is a bog standard phone with polyphonic ringtones and a 1.52-inch colour screen that can display 128x128 pixels in 65K colours.
It is also compatible with WAP and GPRS plus it comes with a USB port which means that you should be able to transfer data to the phone.
But you won't find any camera or MP3 player capabilities but you will have a speakerphone and a voice recorder.
You will need to buy the phone with £10 airtime, either from Orange or T-Mobile, to bring down the price to £4.95.
Back in April 2008, Asda sold 50,000 £5 mobile phones in a matter of weeks from Sagem and Nokia.
