  • Toshiba £180 HD Camileo H10 Camcorder Fills Gap In Market

29 July, 2008, by Desire Athow

Japanese CE Firm Toshiba has announced the release of its latest SD-based High Definition camcorder, the Camileo H10, a small but well formed 340g camcorder that is a welcomed departure from the format adopted by Sanyo's Xacti or the previous Camileo Pro.

The company, which is better known for its laptop range, has decided to adopt the popular can-in-the-hand format, making the camera more stable overall.

At £180, it is not as cheap as some of its lesser-capable counterparts and, while not up with the likes of Sony or Canon, it nicely fills the mid-market segment.

The camera can record in 1280x720 pixel resolution and comes with a 5x optical zoom coupled with a 4x digital one.

Your movies will be saved as MPEG4 files which means that unlike DVD-based camcorders for example, you will be able to watch your movies on almost all platforms available; alternatively why not view your glorious snaps on an HDMI-equiped monitor.

The Camileo H10 is also a 10-megapixel Flash-incorporated camera with a 2.7-inch LCD display and supports up to 8GB cheap as chips SDHC card.

Other features include night mode functionality, image stabilisation, motion detection filming (makes an expensive security camera) and comes with a software package courtesy of Arcsoft.

The camera should be available for sale at the usual e-tailers.
