Toshiba's Regza LCD TV Upscales Pictures Using PS3's Cell Processor
The recent IFA fair in Berlin seems flooded with some of the hottest gadgets budding in various segments of the electronic industry, and almost all the key electronic players have showed their upcoming masterpieces to its fans, and Toshiba lags no behind in this race.
The company has unleashed its all new range of ZF Regza LCD TVs, which is said to deliver unparallel upscaling in its picture technology, for providing enhanced picture quality to its users.
The new Regza features an enhanced picture-processing method, termed Resolution +, which is said to present the SD content, with quality at par with the HD.
The new picture upscaling is based on Toshiba’s ‘Spurs Engine’, which integrates the Cell processor with its TVs, due to which it can pump-out pictures in a much quicker way; further, as it is a software chip, it can be improved with the timely updates from the company.
It has a built-in MPEG-4 decoder that would tap the advantage of the HD services, available in certain regions of the world, but it won’t be of much use where HD services are scanty.
Its screen delivers the quality equivalent to 1080p HD with a contrast ratio of 30,000:1, and the device is expected to have a friendly price-tag. Tags: television, toshiba
