Say Hello To Samsung's Latest 8MP Pseudo-Smartphone, the M8800
Samsung is going to launch its second 8MP snapper-phone and the device will be codenamed the M8800, carrying the unusual name of Bresson in UK and Pixon elsewhere.
According to Russian websote mobile.mail.ru, the phone will not be a proper smartphone since it will not be powered by any proper mobile OS (no Symbian in there) but will still bear all the hallmarks of a 8MP bombshell.
So you can expect a 3.2-inch 240x400 pixel touchscreen, a 8MP camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, support for Quadband and HSDPA, a built in accelerometer, GPS and FM Radio (with RDS support).
Other features include a geo-tagging, WVGA movie capabilities, virtual QWERTY keyboard, microSD SDHC card slot but surprisingly no Wi-Fi.
The immediate comparison that most will do is one with the current Omnia smartphone which comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 as platform and the other 8-megapixel camera from Samsung, the innov8 aka the i8510, which is powered by Nokia's backed Symbian S60 OS.
The phone which should come on the 10th of November will almost certainly cost around GBP 400 but should be available with expensive high end contracts.
Expect those last 3 months to be very, very busy.... More Android coming later this year, the Xperia X1 launching in a few days and even more Blackberries making their way towards us. Tags: samsung, smartphone
