Blogosphere is abuzz with rumours that Apple is on the verge of joining hands with some of the prominent game developers to offer their premium content through its App Store.
The fresh set of rumours claimed that Apple is planning to add a new section dedicated to premium game titles to its App Store that will cater to the developers who offer their games at USD 19.99.
However, the plan will be restricted to large publishers only, instead of thousands of small developers who are currently selling their game titles on Apple’s main App store, according to the reports from PocketGamer.
Though the exact time frame for the launch hasn’t been reported, but PocketGamer sees Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), usually held in June, as the most suitable date for its launch.
However, as usual, Apple has declined to comment upon any rumours or speculations when asked about the addition of new premium section for games to its App Store.
The notion of adding new section surely makes sense for promoting high quality content for gaming enthusiasts, as Apple seems to be eager to pitch its iPod and iPhone devices as potential competitors for Sony PSP and Nintendo DS game consoles.
