Amazon Debuts Kindle For PC Software

In a noteworthy move to lure a wider community of online book worms, Amazon on Tuesday rolled out its hugely popular Kindle app for PC, which enables Kindle users to access their books on tablet PCs, notebooks, netbooks, and other forms of PCs.

The company is offering free software to all Kindle users in order to allow them reading their favourite titles right on their PCs, without necessitating them to purchase Kindle book reader device for the purpose.

The software is available on ‘Kindle for PC page’ on the website, quick installation of which establishes the reader application on their system, making users to log in and register using their Amazon accounts, or even create a new one.

After logging in using the software, users can download an already purchased ebook on their systems, or click on to the link to buy a new one.

Incidentally, Microsoft had already dropped a hint for such software tool in a demonstration during the launch of Windows 7 last month.

Ian Freed, VP for Amazon Kindle, touted the initiative by saying, “Kindle for PC is also a great way for people around the world to access a huge selection from the Kindle Store and read the most popular books of today even if they don't yet have a Kindle.”
