  • Sony Xperia X10 Android Smartphone To Launch In February 2010

16 November, 2009, by Desire Athow

Sony has put up a pre-registration page for its forthcoming Android smartphone, the Xperia X10, which it says will be available for sale from the 10th of February 2010.

The device, which will be the first Sony Ericsson smartphone to be powered by an Android platform, has popped up on the official SE-Store. The X10, formerly known as Rachael, comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processsor, 1GB of Internal memory, a "rich user interface" and a 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and a 16x zoom.

Possibly, the most attractive feature of the phone is its 4-inch LCD display that can show up to 854x480 pixels, that's more than twice what the iPhone can display and is even more than the pixel count of early netbooks. There's a 8GB microSD card bundled and Android Donut 1.6 - no 2.0 version.

Sony Ericssion has posted a sample video and sample pictures taken with the X10 here. The photos were taken in Stockholm and are a testament of the excellent work that the camera can achieve under different lighting conditions nearly four months from launch.
