  • LG Unveils Midrange GT505 and GW 520 Smartphones

30 May, 2009, by Desire Athow

Korean phone manufacturer LG has announced the release of two solid midrange smartphones, the GT505 and the GW520, with a heavy focus on social networking services.

The GT505 has a 3-inch touchscreen, WiFi, a 5-megapixel camera and comes with a 30-day trial to LG's Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation application. No details have been released over the phone's other features.

As for the GW520, it differs from the previous model by the presence of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, similar to the one found on LG's Cookie. It has a smaller 2.8-inch touchscreen and comes with a 3-megapixel camera. Surprisingly though, it boosts  7.2mbps HSDPA connection compared to a 3.6mbps one found on the GT505.

Users however will be able to get social networking updates pushed directly over the air to the GT505 and the GW520. Furthermore, photos, updates and profiles can be updated straight from thes phones themselves. Both phones will be compatible with some social networking websites by default.

Both phones will also feature push mail similar to the Blackberry and will be compatible with Microsoft Exchange Activesync for business addresses.

LG has not publish any exact release dates for the phones or at what price they will be available. The GT505 will be available on Orane UK as from next month while the GW520 will be on most networks.
