The BBC has named Luke Bradley-Jones, the former exec VP of digital media and business development at BBC Worldwide in the US, as the next managing director of BBC.com, the non-UK version of the corporation's website.
Bradley-Jones joined BBC Worldwide back in 2006 as head of strategy, and he will be replacing Kym Niblock, who is quitting the company after two years in the role.
In his new role, Bradley-Jones will be responsible to handle the management and strategic direction of BBC.com's business, including the launch of the website's first localised version in the US sometime in next year.
“Having led our digital ventures in the US for the past two years, Luke is the natural candidate to take over the reins at BBC.com, especially as we work towards the site's first localised edition in the US next year”, said David Moody, the director of strategy and MD of digital media for BBC Worldwide.
On his appointment for a new role, Bradley-Jones said, “I’m coming into this role with BBC.com in great shape”, as the website has already been signed up more than 400 advertisers since it was commercially launched around 18 months back.
Incidentally, as per the data released by Omniture, the website had as many as 50 million unique users in the first quarter of the year that ended on March 2009.
