  • Adobe Hikes Up Price Of Creative Suite 4, Blames Exchange Rate

02 June, 2009, by Desire Athow

Adobe Systems has announced that it is set to hike the price of its latest Creative Suite 4 software line up by around 10 percent in the UK, attributing rise of prices to “sharp fluctuations” in exchange rates between the Euro and the Pound.

The new price structure, which is said to be effective from 1 July, will see the price of its popular Photoshop software to rise from £485 to £534, whereas the cost of Design Premium jumps up from £1,249 to £1,372.

While the UK consumers will see a substantial increase, some countries in Europe will have a sharp decline of 13 percent in prices.  Commenting upon price-hike in the UK, Adobe said that it seeks to have flat price structure across Europe, as long as the market conditions and circumstances help in doing so.

“The current economic environment and currency fluctuations have made this challenging. This change to the CS4 pricing is intended to realign the UK with other European countries”, the company added.

The price increase is said to be in line with the similar price hikes, which have taken place in the company's Norway and Sweden stores, which were also resulted due to notable changes in exchange rates between Norwegian Kroner/Swedish Kroner and the Euro.
