  • Lenovo Debuts Thinkpad T400s Ultraslim Laptop

23 June, 2009, by Desire Athow

Lenovo has launched a new sub-notebook, the T400s, that perpetuates the dynasty of the Thinkpad family by carrying on the traditional features normally found on these ex-IBM portable workhorses.

The T400s looks and feels as sturdy as any other members of the Thinkpad range. It is much heavier that the Lenovo S10e but packs much more firepower with a 6-cell battery.

It has a 14.1-inch screen with a screen resolution of 1440x900 pixels. It is only 21mm thick and weighs a mere 1.8Kg, thanks partly to the act that it uses a "Top Roll Cover Cage” chassis made up of carbon reinforced fibre which is apparently used on aeroplanes.

Under the shell, you will find an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 2.54GHz. The CPU is backed by up to 4GB RAM and uses can choose between a 128GB solid state drive or a 250GB hard disk model.

The DVD burner can be swapped with a Blu-ray burner and you also get a finger print reader, a 2-megapixel webcam plus a pair of microphones.

Other options includes the option to throw in a card reader or an Expresscard slot. Interestingly, the T400s, which is also bigger than the previous X300 ultra thin model, comes with a multitouch trackpad which puts it on par with the MacBook Air.

Peter Hortensius, senior vice president of ThinkPad at Lenovo said in the product release statement that the company has "created products like our ThinkPad T400s laptop to bring thin and light computing to mainstream corporate users"
