  • Sony Slim PS3 Gaming Console To Come With Lower Price Tag

13 August, 2009, by Desire Athow

Owing to the ongoing shortages of PS3 consoles, rumours are rife that Sony is all set to unveil the latest iteration of its signature PlayStation console, dubbed as ‘PS3 Slim’, at the upcoming Gamescom Expo in Cologne, Germany.

While the blogosphere has long been speculating for a slim version of PS3 console, the latest rumours on its probable appearance next week were splashed out by an interview of an anonymous retailer to French gaming site JVN.com, saying that PS3 Slim is real and will be priced around 100 euros less than that of the existing version.

The retailer further quoted that the new PS3 console could hit the shelves as early as next month, but no confirmed date of the launch has been given.

The interview with the retailer has thrown light on some of the useful facts, such as a useful insight on whether a price cut will encourage sales of the console, and the likes.

However, the retailer says that he’s been told that the upcoming version of the console will be a “limited edition”, but he claims that such a decision is hard to believe.

The report comes after Sony’s chief exec Sir Howard Stringer denied the possibilities of price ct on its PS3 console. However, with the latest set of rumours, it seems that the launch of PS3 Slim is there in the offing.
