  • HP, Microsoft To Launch New Tablet PC At CES 2010

06 January, 2010, by ITProPortal Staff

Steve Ballmer, the charismatic CEO of Microsoft, will be unveiling the company’s very own version of an interactive, tablet style PC at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas today, where he is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech.

The New York Times has claimed that, according to some people close to Microsoft’s plans, Steve Ballmer will announce the product during his keynote speech. It has also claimed that the device will be manufactured by Hewlett-Packard and will go on sale sometime this year.

In September last year, some news sites had claimed to have obtained leaked details about Microsoft's tablet device and had also posted a video. The report mentioned that the device will have two 7-inch multi-touch screens which are designed for writing, flicking and drawing with a stylus.

The status symbols like wireless signal and battery life were also displayed along the rim of one of the screens. The device is said to have a camera on its back cover and will charge through an inductive pad.

If Steve Ballmer really does announce the existence on a Microsoft tablet device, then he would beat Apple Inc. in the race to launch such device as Steve Job's firm is rumored to launch its quasi mythical tablet a few days later on January 27th.
