BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) has purchased the internet domain name blackpad.com, indicating that the the company may soon launch its own tablet device. RIM acquired the rights to the domain name on 8 July 2010, with an expiry date set for 8 September 2011.

Microsoft has defended its pricing strategy for the Kinect motion-sensing Xbox 360 gaming peripheral. Priced at £129.99 in the UK, the Kinect has received criticism from gamers, experts, analysts and game developers - all of whom have claimed the device is too expensive.

The profile details of over 100 million Facebook users have been made available on an interent file-sharing site. Security researcher for Skull Security Ron Bowles used a piece of code to scan and collect all user profiles data contained in the platform's open access directory.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has announced a new upgrade to internet security, DNSSEC, designed to provide a more safer and secure internet environment for the billions of web users around the globe.

The Indian government has said it has no plans to ban RIM's BlackBerry services in the country - as long as the Canadian firm complies with the country's security regulations. The Indian governemnt is in talks with RIM to allow it to monitor all messages and e-mails sent from BlackBerry devices.
