  • 123 Reg blog pages hacked

27 June, 2008, by Steve Gold

In their default mode, Wordpress blogs are reportedly a doddle to hack, as most users don't bother to change all the admin passwords.

But you'd expect a Web registration ISP to change them, wouldn't you?

Step forward 123Reg, the Web registration specialist, whose Wordpress-based blog was hacked earlier this week and injected with a range of rogue URLs promoting assorted prescription drugs such as Viagra, Tramadol and the like.

My thanks to the PPC blog for pointing this gem out, as well as the fact that the blog pages are a subset of the main portal at http://inside.123-reg.co.uk/

As PPC blog puts it: "if the self acclaimed UK's largest Web host can't protect their own blog or even spot they have a big problem, what hope is there for the average Web site owner?."

    Perzactly...
