Motorola Planning 10-inch Tablet With Android 3.0

27 July, 2010, by Desire Athow

US-manufacturer Motorola is rumoured to be planning a 10-inch Android-based tablet that will be a direct competitor to the Apple iPad according to a pair of Analysts.

Roger Crenshaw and Ashok Kumar report that Motorola will be launching such a device with Android OS 3.0 (Gingerbread) towards the end of the year.

Motorola's CEO, Sanjay Jha, had declined to say whether or not the company will be launching an Android tablet but we wouldn't bet against it.

There are only a handful of such Android devices but Motorola could take the lead and cement its position as one of the two most powerful Android players out there (the other one being HTC).

Motorola could use its strong ties with US mobile phone carriers such as Verizon Wireless, to secure the sales of hundreds of thousands units and succeed where the likes of Huawei or Archos, have failed.

No specifications regarding this one but we would bet that the device will be powered by an ARM-based processor (Qualcomm), come with at least 512MB RAM, some sort of removable storage, Wi-Fi, accelerometer and the likes.

In a nutshell, take the Droid X and just get a bigger screen and a bigger battery.
