The National Party of New Zealand has reportedly turned has gone to police for a criminal investigation after claims that its opponents hold hundreds of leaked emails which they will soon publish.
According to the NZ Press Association, a spokesperson for the NZ National Party confirmed that the Plod had been called in, although he said that the discussions were at an early stage.
The newswire says that the Party called in forensic investigators after several leaked emails surfaced during the election campaign.
Interestingly, the investigators were unable to find evidence that the Party's computer systems had been hacked. Nor were they able to confirm rumours that the leak was an internal one.
