£1.8 Billion invested annually in Business Security

According to the latest survey conducted by PointTopic, UK businesses are spending vast amounts of money in order to protect their data communications.

A provider of broadband user information, www.point-topic.com published their BS1 (first Business Survey) this week. The survey analyses the online security needs and broadband use of UK businesses.

Survey results showed that 99% of businesses with data access have implemented security measures. This leaves only about 37,000 workplaces that are currently unsecured.

These figures amount to gross expenditures of almost £1.8 billion per year.

Symantec, McAfee, Sophos, AVG, Microsoft and Trend Micro are the leading security suppliers as reported by the surveyed businesses. While Symantec and McAfee share dominance over the small-businesses, McAfee is also widely used by the larger ones.

Sophos and Trend Micro have a significant hold in large businesses. AVG and Microsoft are used across the board.
